(June 27th thru July 1st, 2016)

Over the weekend several trees were taken down.  Trees will be planted later in the project in the planted strips and medians to offset those removed.

The demolition of the concrete sidewalk and apron adjacent to the WHSCAB Building within the construction fencing is complete.  Also, demolition of the concrete curb and gutter has begun in this area.

Installation of the stone base course material is underway.  This is taking place where a section of the roadway will be shifting slightly to the west, closer to WHSCAB.

Next Week
(July 4th thru July 8th, 2016)

Work will begin to construct the new curb and gutter near WHSCAB.

Construction fencing will be placed around the perimeter of the concrete sidewalk that extends up to Eagle Row.

Night work will begin on July 8th with the demolition of the sidewalk at the south west corner of Eagle Row and Clifton Road.  This work will take place at night to minimize the impacts to pedestrians.  The new section of sidewalk will be open to pedestrians no later than Sunday afternoon.

Additionally, a crew will be testing materials in the intersection just south of the bridge over the CSX railroad tracks. Please see below for additional details.

Important Items/Changes to Note

On Friday evening, July 8th and during the day on Saturday July 9th, work will be taking place at the intersection of Eagle Row and Clifton Road.  The sidewalk on the south west corner will be demolished and then rebuilt in its new location.  The contractor will have personnel on site to direct pedestrians around the work area until it can be reopened to the public.

Additionally, a crew will be testing materials in the roadway at the Clifton Road, Haygood Drive and Eagle Row intersection on Saturday July 9th.   This work will start at 9 AM and be complete by 3 PM.  Traffic safety measures will be in place and they will also have personnel on site to direct traffic.  Only 1 lane of the roadway will be taken out of service at a time.
