August 8th thru August 13, 2016
Crews placed the final section of concrete sidewalk at WHSCAB and in front of Harris Hall. By the end of next week the new sidewalk will be open to the public. Crews are still working to remove rock, loose pieces of concrete and prepping the planted area to receive soil and mulch. A section of pea gravel sidewalk was demoed and replaced from the WHSCAB parking lot up to the sidewalk at Clifton Road. Please note we will not demo the temporary sidewalk adjacent to WHSCAB for some time. Once we are ready to install plants and trees, crews will detour pedestrians back onto it until they complete the planting of the trees.
Additional concrete light pole bases were placed in front of EUH. Crews also installed conduit and junction boxes between the light pole bases.
The foundation for the retaining wall near the corner of Clifton Road and N Decatur Road has been poured.
Friday night (8/12) a crew will demo the concrete and brick corner at Fishburne Drive. It will be replaced in the proper configuration and reopened for use, late Saturday afternoon.
Also this weekend crews will be working in the roadway in front of Harris Hall. This area of Clifton Road requires more extensive repairs so they will be removing asphalt, stone base course and then replacing it with sound materials which will properly support the new roadway surface.
August 15th thru August 19th, 2016
Crews will continue working on landscape areas adjacent to WHSCAB and Harris Hall. Work will also continue on the retaining wall where they will be placing concrete block on the foundation placed this week. All areas will be inspected and cleaned up by the end of the week in anticipation of move in weekend.
No work will take place on Clifton Road the weekend of August 20th and 21st, to accommodate move in weekend for students.
Important Items / Changes to Note
Friday night (8/12) crews will be working to replace the corner in front of the Business School and they will be working in the travel lane closest to Thomas Hall. This full depth asphalt replacement will cover approximately 220’ and will be ready for traffic before the weekend is over. Please see the pedestrian traffic plan (PDF) that shows how pedestrians will be directed around this corner.
